Are you ready to rumble

Friday the 25th of May is Africa Day, this is also the date for Kalakoda Promotions and Kwesé Sports’ next installment of the Friday Fight Night Boxing series, aptly named AFRICA RISING. The event is hosted at the Portuguese Hall in Turffontein Johannesburg and forms part of a 3-day boxing convention of Southern African states.

 

The inaugural convention will seek to foster strong inter country relations amongst the various boards and cover a full spectrum of topics around boxing administration and good governance.

The event will be themed as a celebration of Southern African boxing and the fight bill provides representation from across the SADC region. The main event sees Namibian and IBF Africa Lightweight Champion “ Albinius Danny Boy” Felesianu take on the tough South African Willis Baloyi in an international non-title bout at light weight. Felesianu is building up to a IBF Intercontinental fight in on August the 3rd in Swakopmund, Namibia (also promoted by Kalakoda) and this contest will provide the competition needed for the Namibian prospect. Baloyi always comes to fight and will definitely be no walk over fighting in front of home support.

 

Another notable match up sees ABU South Welterweight Champion Cristiano Ndombassy from Angola take on Sharief Kasongo from Zambia in what promises to be an all action gun fight. Special mention must also be given to Vlad Sirenko, the Ukraine Heavyweight prospect who has made South Africa his home, he takes on Malawi’s Alick Gogodo in a non title heavyweight bout.

 

The remaining card promises some great match ups and representation from some ten Southern African countries including two ladies bouts.

 

The occasion will be a night of great boxing and a guest list of the whose who in both professional boxing and sport with many dignitaries and VIPs attending. This will be a showcase of African boxing at its best with all the key role players from the SADC region all present.

The event will be broadcast live across the continent on Africa’s fastest growing broadcast platform Kwesé Sport as well as Soweto TV Channel 251, OVHD and streamed across Africa on Facebook Live.
